Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/22/2006

Number: 1

The monarch was flying by some flowers and then over the house. The weather was around 75 degrees and wind was around 5 mph.

On another Monarch observation on 5-25-06.

I am a naturalist at Tamarack Nature Center in White Bear Lake, Minnesota I was out training someone on a bluebird trail within a restored prairie yesterday afternoon temperature was about 75 degrees wind was around 5-10 mph. We saw a monarch flying near one of the boxes with Tree Swallows flying nearby and the all of a sudden the monarch started chasing the swallow. It was the strangest thing I had ever seen he must have kept chasing it for around a minute, because we turned around and it had even circled back with the bird. Strange things, you never know what you are going to see when out.
