Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/25/2006

Number: 1

I was so excited to see our first adult monarch butterfly today. I was driving into town and it flew across my path! I lead an elementary school garden club where we have just planted a butterfly garden this week, after months of study and preparation! The students also tracked the migration (North) of the monarch. We have learned a lot and are fasinated by the miracle migration of these creatures. Thanks for making my job, as the garden club facilitator, much easier. After I got home, I told my four year old I saw a monarch and he said "well, Daddy and I saw three on our bike ride today!" My husband confirmed the sightings! Welcome back, descendants of Mr. Orange! (One of the monarch butterflies we raised and released, last summer).
