Just saw my first monarch of the season. Early for me. It was sitting on a spike of mint. I went closer to get a good look and it went over to the milkweed plant. Right next to a robin. The robin looked at it for a second and decided to take a tentative bite. The monarch fluttered and broke free and left the garden for the woods. Scared me for a minute there. It was a fresh bright colored one. Now maybe with a nip out of one wing.
