Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/30/2006

Number: 1

Found 18 larva today in my garden. They had just hatched sometime today. I had observed a monarch laying eggs last week and she put two and three together on different leaves, but they all hatched. Both my common milkweed and swamp milkweed have beetles and weevils, and do not look healthy. I am turning the larva in to the butterfly lab at Beaver Creek Reserve, Fall Creek, for the butterfly house.
