My first Monarch arrived this afternoon.
She was large, in good condition but a little faded. She was placing her eggs carefully but quickly, on very fresh shoots of Common Milkweed, generally at the top of the plant.
I found 1 egg on Dwarf milkweed (A.Ovalifolia) but none on the Swamp milkweed which is generally smaller. Conditions at 5:30 pm were gusty south wind, 22deg (72F) and partly clouded.
