Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/02/2006

Number: 1

I see one Monarch every day. The hot humid wweather over Memorial Day seems to have worked the charm on both Monarchs and hummingbirds! Butterfly activity in general is up with spicebush and tiger swallowtails nectaring along with the Monarchs on the blossoms of the autumn olive. This shrub perfumes the air day and night with the scent of jasmine/Ylang Ylang/vanilla. I daren't tell my husband what bloomer is making him sneeze so! Don't blame the butterflies, it has to taste delicious! Milkweeds are popping up everywhere, standing about 8" tall as they continue to emerge.
