Saw a lone Monarch in a field. Could not determine the sex but it was in good condition and a dark orange. I thought it might be a female as it flew to the milkweed and landed on it but there were no visible eggs a few hours later. Noisy activity on the field may have frightened her away.
A student report seeing 4 Monarchs in her back yard the same weekend.
