All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 06/16/2006

Within this past week I have heard apx ten Cicadas chirping away. That's highly unusual for this area this early in the year. Normally we start hearing them towards the end of July or the first half of August. Our seasons are really changing, and it's been very noticeable here this year. All of the wildlife around here are early making their post-winter appearances. I haven't actually seen a Cicada yet, so I can't tell which variety are doing the "early-bird" singing. Whenever I first hear those, often mistakenly called Locusts around here, we're in the dog-days of summer. Our spring here has been unusally hot with highs in the past month ranging from the lower 70's up to 102 F.
