On June 30th, around 9pm, the National Weather Service picked up a radar image of hatching mayflies, along the Mississippi River, in the vicinity of La Crosse, Wisconsin. There were so many dead mayflies that they collected in drifts on the local roads. The hatch event only lasted a few hours.
