Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/11/2006

Number: 1

Two very slow "tame" butterflies graced our office for the day. This is the second time I have seen Monarchs in Nome. About 13 years ago, hundreds of butterlies were seen on our beach, just sitting slow and "tame" like on the sand. It was a rare event and now yesterday I saw two and several other people mentioned seeing "tame" monarchs in and around town. Can you help explain why there are here and how come they are so slow?
Thank you very much!
