Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/15/2006

Number: 1

I observed a female Monarch landing on my milkweed plants around 4:00 p.m. both yesterday and today. She landed for almost a minute on several of the leaves then flew to a buckthorn bush where she stayed, opening and closing her wings. The temperature is about 95 degrees today with some wind making it difficult for her to hang on to the milkweed plant as it bent in the wind. The female Monarch landed only on the top of the milkweed leaf and I did not see her go to the underside of the leaf. I will go search for some eggs now.
