Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/31/2006

Number: 1

This year we have had more Monarchs visit our small milkweed garden, then during the past 20 years we have been collecting eggs and rearing butterflies and releasing them. To date, released 4 females, and 5 males. Have 3 more chrysalis, 7 caterpillars, numerous eggs, and monarchs are laying more eggs every day. WORDS OF CAUTION: Lost 9 caterpillars, in various stages of development in one container. Can only figure it was a result of finding 2 earwigs in the container. They love attaching themselves to milkweed leaves. More to come later!
