I checked a milkweed growing outside my kitchen door for monarch larva and counted 8 on the first day, they varied in size from a quarter inch long to over an inch. The big one has already left, presumably to form a chrysalis, the others continue to grow at an amazing rate and there seem to be more hatchlings almost every day
