Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/09/2006

Number: 1

This has been a Monarch summer around here! Every hour that I spend outside, I see at least 5. Bright ones, old faded ones; busy enjoying flowers. I just found the body of a very old tattered one who had been busy laying eggs on the milkweed in my garden. That one lived in the garden for several days. I see them when I'm out driving places, too. I can't remember seeing so many of them around our area. The brown knapweed is already opening, and they seem to like to nectar on it in the evenings out in the meadow. They should really be adding to the population! Lots of other butterfly species around, too. Good year for beautiful bugs!
