Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/22/2006

Number: 1

Monarchs are sighted in this area on a regular basis Morro Bay State Park (12 miles N.)has a large Eucylptus grove that serves as a resting spot for thousands of monarchs annually. San Simeon State Park near Cambria, Ca.has a seasonal wetland with milkweed groves.

I am a Naturalist at KEEP(Kern Environmental Education Program)an outdoor science school in Cambria, Ca. under the Kern County Superintendent of Schools in Bakersfield, Ca. Over half our students are from low-income families and many are English language learners. Our students attend a 5-day resedential science camp where many experience the oudoors for the first time. I would love to have our students involved in the southern migration watch. We take groups of students on hikes dailyin both San Simeon and Morro Bay from September to June.
