Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/27/2006

Number: 1

It's 8:00 p.m. and this is the first evening this fall that we have observed small numbers (5) of monarchs coming to our oak trees to roost. (Each year we observe monarchs roosting in both our red and bur oak trees. The monarchs seem to prefer to roost on the long thin leafless branches that face west and that receive the last light and warmth of the sunset.) We'll be watching for more coming to roost in the days to come
