I was in a flat, sandy prairie yesterday (8-31-06) where there were large areas of Whorled Milkweed (Asclepias verticillata) blooming. Hundreds of monarchs were nectaring on the milkweed - I counted about 150 in one 6 meter square area of milkweed.
