Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 08/30/2006

Number: 1

At 7:30pm on Aug. 30, 2006 I observed a large number of monarch butterflies roosting in trees along the edge of our woods. Several butterflies were swooping and fluttering overhead as well. It was cloudy and also starting to get dark so it was difficult to estimate the number of butterflies. I observed clumps of 8-10 buterflies on several lower branches. I am guessing that many more butterflies were present, but it was too gloomy for me to see them .
