Our Monarch population was high earlier, but sightings have been very rare in the last month. I suspect ants and wasps as most likely reasons for population decline. As far as I know grasshoppers are not a factor, but there are lots of those, too.
Spotted four butterflies on Thurs, Aug 31. Isolated. Two were south of Highway 64 in the River Falls area. Two were here east of Osceola. I suspect they were newly hatched. We have two chrysali about a week from emergence.
Would love to see and photograph any migration activity. Please report large sightings immediately. Much Thanks, and Good Watching.
