Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/12/2006

Number: 1

I released 3 adult males that emerged on this day from a group I have raised in my bathroom. Joining them at my flowers were 3 more, 2 males and 1 female. I raised and released 10 females and 11 more males from 8/15/06--9/11/06. I noticed that a large percentage of my first group were females, all emerging mid-August. The males all were the last to emerge. I had one more female emerge 9/13/06 who was injured and I saw another wild female on 9/13/06. I'm wondering if anyone else sees more females in the earliest adults? This is my first year--I'll have more information next year. We had a lot of rain during the summer of 2006, and insects like Monarchs seem to have done well. Thanks for your work.
