Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/18/2006

Number: 1

Yesterday evening- 9/17,I had 2 hummers fighting over the feeder, chasing and chittering. One would actually roost in a nearby Seckel pear tree and guard the feeder. It was so comical- they went clear up to dark and it was a cool 55*. They even seemed to be drawing nectar from the ripe, juicy pears. This evening at 5pm CT I noticed one nectaring on everything.I didn't have hardly any all summer. I'm assuming that they are migrants passing through. I hope they get south before Wednesday morning, as we are predicted to have early morning temps. of 30*.
