Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/18/2006

Number: 1

Sitting in the parking lot at work during lunch (12:30pm CT), I counted 45 Monarchs in 25 minutes. All were trying to fly SW. It was partly sunny, but very windy (10-15 mph from the NW, and 65F). They better hurry as the temperature is predicted to fall down to 30F by Wednesday morning at 7 am. I still have one "cat" on Asclepias incarnata outside @ home in Marengo- 20 mi. from work. I may bring it in the house. The other "cat" that I had is gone & assumed it formed chrysalis, but couldn't find it. I hope is has buried deep into the nearby mum foliage & will survive. After the chilly day it is suppose to warm back up into the upper 60's.
