The number of monarchs tagged at the Haskell - Baker Wetlands last Saturday was 2671. A bit lower than the nearly 2800 tagged in 2001.
However, there were more participants (>500) this year and most of them were new to tagging.

September 21
While cleaning up late yesterday, my crew found 4 more data sheets from the Saturday tagging event with 88 additional records of tagged monarchs. These additional tags bring the total to 2759. This number exceeds the preliminary estimate for the tagging in
2001 of 2650 monarchs tagged. However, as I recall, a subsequent count showed the number to be close to 2800.
Now, if I could only found the exact number for 2001 we'd know whether the number this year set a new record.
