Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/21/2006

Number: 1

Approximately 100 monarchs were sighted at Gilgo Beach in Long Island, New York. The butterflies stopped and roosted before crossing the Atlantic Ocean. I assume they try to stay close to shorelines? (Take a look at the Atlantic Ocean at Gilgo Beach: Link to Web cam)
