Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/25/2006

Number: 1

How amazing! We saw what must have been thousands of Monarchs flying south over Highway 400 (just a few miles west of I-44). Later in the afternoon we went to a nearby park and photographed many butterflies. (The park was Schermerhorn, just outside of Galena, KS.) There is a trail with a Prairie Grassland area-- this is where we saw about 100 playing and dining on some wildflowers. The temperature was in the low 70's and it was sunny.
