Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/25/2006

Number: 1

I was in Cape May today and I was amazed to see all the Monarchs flying into town! They were everywhere!

As I drove to Cape May via I 76 E, Atlantic City Expressway and Garden State Parkway, I saw Monarchs traveling too! As I approached Cape May, I thought I was looking at birds in the distance - they were butterflies!

I was at the Cape May Bird Observatory and heard Louise Zemaitis talking about the numbers of butterflies. She was also telling people where they were roosting. I drove there and saw her talking with a man and his kids. We were in awe of the butterflies flying around and roosting in the pines.

This defies description...it was nature at its best and most beautiful!
