At Rockfish Gap, VA, near Waynesboro, VA, the Hawk Migration Association reported:
"500+ Monarch butterflies (& that is being conserative)"
At the same time, they were counting something like 1,375 raptors including their first Golden Eagle of the year. They also reported 214 monarchs for the previous day (9/19/), but since they had 2,349 broadwing hawks that day, they may have missed a lot of monarchs!)
