Today, Sept. 27 there were hundreds of Monarchs on Toronto Islands. I estimated that I saw about 4000 individuals, and there were certainly many more that I didn't see. Many were nectaring on asters and goldenrods, but some were also migrating west. At the old natural science school at Centre Island I estimated about 2000 individuals, most draped over a couple of large dogwood bushes at the edge of the woods here, where they had likely roosted the previous night. There were also 3 Common Buckeyes on the islands.
