Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/28/2006

Number: 1

At our house we counted 63 monarchs. They were circling our hackberry tree. They cluttered together to sleep. I caught a monarch butterfly by swinging my net back and forth. I was so excited.

We had been watching for a whole month and only seeing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 9. These butterflies were flying south at car height because the wind was from the south.
