Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/29/2006

Number: 1

We have been anxiously watching the maps and skies for monarch migration. The weather has not be very favorable, with lots of rain and southwest winds. But, today, our third grade class saw 80 migrating monarchs in 30 minutes! We have never seen so many. The interesting thing is, the wind was blowing from the southwest. They were still heading to the southwest, despite the wind. We wonder if migration will be even better in the next few days, when the wind might be more favorable. We will keep looking!
