Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/29/2006

Number: 1

We have just arrived home from a trip to Sherman Texas. Yesterday as we played with the grandkids in the backyard, we saw probably 2 monarchs every 10 minutes flying too high for the kids to catch and tag. This morning at Coyote Creek Park in Plano, Texas, JJ and I saw around 100 monarchs in 1 hour in the pecan trees along the creek. We were able to catch only 7 -- All the others were too high. No directional flight -- they were just hanging out in the trees. From Plano to Fair Oaks Ranch (284 mi) down Hwy 281 we saw around 30 crossing the road flying SSW.
