Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 10/01/2006

Number: 1

Netted one of two monarchs (our first of the fall!) in the backyard this afternoon visiting the curassavica ... large male (front wings 55 mm) with some fade, not new. He left to the south with a new tag, the other left to the south while this was going on and did not come back. We have had a great deal of rain here right along the midcoast of Texas but inland around San Antonio, N, NW, W, and SW of there, they are still experiencing drought conditions. Hope all the monarchs being
seen along the east coast, like those at Cape May, make the turn and find their way along the Texas midcoast in about two weeks ... will it cools down a bit by then, upper 90's later this week! Extreme hawkwatching has been great tho'!
