I observed approximatley 1000-1500 monarch butterflies gathering on trees at Gibson Island Maryland, on Mountan Bar Point. Mountain Bar Point is the very tip of the island where the Cheasapeake Bay and the Magathy River meet. My mom told me when she was a little girl my age (10) the butterflies were always there at the end of September and then began their migration.
