Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 10/02/2006

Number: 1

My Husband and I have successfully released 256 Monarch Butterflies thus far this year. I have been hooked on this hobby for about 5 years now and this has been the BEST year yet. It was time consuming, cleaning the cages every day and providing new fresh milkweed, but oh so rewarding. I did however have a few disasters with a couple deaths, but the parasites must have gotten to the caterpillers before I found them and brought them into a net covered cage, trying to keep them free from those pests. We still have about 8 more to come out of the Chrysalis, so it's a little depressing that it will soon be done for another year. But we feel good that we were able to release 256 healthy, beautiful Monarch's !
