We were sailing this afternoon on the Rappahannock River (VA)- clear day, approx. 75-80 F - and noticed a continuous 'flow' of individual Monarch butterflies traveling south - they flew around our sailboat and even between the mainsail and jib sometimes. They flew at about 15 to 20 feet above the water level and some even higher. It was a fascinating sight!
