It was over ninety degrees while we were planting our bulbs. It made it a little hard for us to think of Spring, but students saw photos of previous Journey North tulip beds and are eager to participate in this year's garden. We had to clear a mound of six gartersnakes out of one garden last week in order to prepare the soil for planting. Our school has a small family of woodchucks burrowing into our hill, too. Seems there's a lot of wildlife in Van Meter, Iowa this year, and it's not all in the classrooms!
