Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/02/2006

Number: 1

October 2 seems to be the peak for the Monarch in Montauk, NY. Up till now the most I have seen over four hours, is about 200. Today I saw well over four hundred. They stop and feed on the Montauk Daisies. Thay make a beautiful sight on the white and yellow flowers. I have been able to take many beautiful pictures.

I am so glad I got to see the migration. I had heard of it, from my mother, for many years, but this is my first. I have heard that in the past there were clouds of butterflies going past. Even though there were not as many, it was beautiful to see and look forward to the spring.
