Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/03/2006

Number: 1

My brother reported seeing hundreds of migratory monarchs from his home in Hanson MA on Sept.30th. He also noted monarchs at his job site in Quincy MA from Oct.2 through Oct.4, again hundreds. My nephew reported seeing hundreds of monarchs in Duxbury MA.on Monday Oct.2. I had raised and released 112 monarchs from my home in Hanson, MA this season. The last of my monarchs was released on Sept.23,2006. I still had remaining tags from the Monarch Watch program so I traveled to Duxbury with my grandnephews and my grandson where we tagged 36 monarchs out of hundreds nectaring on goldenrod. The kids assisted and were able to pick them right off of the flowers! This is the first time any of us have seen a migration-spectacular!!!
