On Tuesday, I saw a stream of Monarchs nectaring on Buddleia flowers that have been planted on the west shore of Randall's Island. I was not in a position to stop to count them, unfortunately.

Randall's Island is in the East River. The west bank faces the East Harlem section of Manhattan. The east bank faces the Astoria section of Queens.

I was in a conversation with the grounds keepers of the island. We were talking about planting sections with foraging & nectaring plants for butterflies.
