I spent yesterday and today outdoors in S. Maine, planting a garden at my vacation house. During the two days, at least three dozen Monarchs stopped to nectar on the newly planted flowering plants. There were many dozens more nectaring at the local nursery, where I picked up my plants. Also dozens nectaring on peak-bloom New England Aster on a power line right of way along Rte. 236 between S. Berwick and Portsmouth NH. Some overhead in directional flight. It's been unseasonably warm in New England this fall.
