Observed from the steps of my classroom portable at Dent Middle School throughout the morning and into the afternoon today. Peak of 25 monarchs within three minutes - heading South and Southwest. We are in the Northeast suburbs of Columbia, SC. Sky was overcast and cool in the morning. Sunny and warm in the afternoon. Sightings tapered off after lunch. Each time classes changed, I stood on my porch and watched them flying overhead. Height was variable. Some flying very low at roof level, but most up at abt 70 - 100 feet. This is the first time I have ever seen such an amazing wonder!
