Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/13/2006

Number: 1

Woo!Hoo! The largest band of Monarchs are pouring thru Kingfisher, Okla. that I have ever seen. I was driving around the outskirts of Kingfisher about 2:30 p.m., and counted about 1 per minute for the 20 minutes that I was driving. They appeared to be going in a south to southwest direction.

About 4 p.m., after running some errands, I walked into my garden, Monarch Waystation #92, and low and behold the Monarchs were EVERYWHERE!!! I counted around 120+ Monarchs in my garden!!! Large clouds of them moved as I walked around. I have never had so many at 1 time. I think that I've died and gone to heaven.

The winds seem to have picked up from the south. The weather channel shows the temp to be 73 degrees- clear- winds W to SW 12. But, that is for OKC, and I believe it is a lil more than that, as I'm having trouble taking pics.

Where ever they are coming from, most are nice sized in good condition. Some are smaller. Some are a lil faded.

Today has been an awesome day!
