Amazingly, evey day that the temperature rises above 60 degrees or so I see a few more monarchs in my garden. Are they locals that have just emerged, or are they travelers from further north.
I still have 5 chrysalises around the house but as the nighttime temperatures have been in the mid to low 30's the past few nights I fear that none of them are viable.
The last two butterflys I watched emerge were not viable. Neither had the strength to hang on the their chrysalis until their wings were fully pumped up and hardened.
