Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/12/2006

Number: 1

A neighbor told me today that she and a friend were swamped with monarchs on the afternoon of 12 October 2006. The sky was "full" at several heights (they used binoculars) as "wave after wave of individuals flowed south preceded by a northern front. They "couldn't believe their eyes!". Also saw many hawks. Sounds like the experience reported by Brush Freeman-Bastrop-on the same day.

They live about 5 miles west of IH-35 in Georgetown. Sorry to have missed it; I've only seen many isolated monarchs meandering southward. Encountered snouts today, several every few yards while driving about.
