A cold front moved through the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas this afternoon bringing the first of the monarch migration to Weslaco and Mercedes. I watched until dusk when monarchs began to land in my mesquite trees only to be chased away or snapped up by birds.
There were about 20 per minute.
