First we added bone meal and then mixed it into the soil. Next we planted the bulbs by using a ruler to make sure the bulbs were planted 4 inches apart, as well as 7 inches deep under the ground. We covered the bulbs with soil and used popsicle sticks to mark where the "largest," "smallest," "healthiest-looking," and "unhealthiest-looking" bulbs were located, so we could track which was which in the spring.
