Today the Third graders and their ESL Kindergarten buddies were involved in planting 30 Red Emperor Tulips in our new outdoor classroom on the west side of our school. The ground was fairly hard because it's been quite dry recently. The children soon realized how difficult it was to dig 7 inches down. It definately took team effort. We came across several worms. This was exciting. We used 2 temperature data recorders. The outdoor temperature was 67 °F and the ground temperature was 58°F. It was a warm day for this time of year. Our school is situated in the middle of a large valley. Hence our city's name Apple Valley. It will be interesting to see what effects this has on our bulbs this spring.
