I planted my 100 Red Emperor tulip bulbs on Oct 30 in my special Journey North plot. My mom was so inspired by Journey North that she ordered over 6000 bulbs from the Netherland bulb company. We also planted those in separate locations. There were so many bulbs that we had to plant our two neighbors yards as well (with their permission). I think she overestimated. We are located in the San Bernardino mountains at about 5,500 feet. A few weeks ago our weather was in the high 30's and low 40's, but has since warmed up. Our weather can be very unpredictable this time of year. My dad is a landscaping contractor and owns a nursery and he said I needed to get the bulbs into the ground since our weather is different from most other places in California.
