While out cutting some wood for this coming winter, I spotted a lone Monarch. He wasn't heading in any particular direction and eventually landed low in a nearby maple tree.
I slowly approached as to not scare it off. There were no apparent visible wing or bodily injuries. So I really have no explanation as to why it would be hanging around here this late in the migration. Maybe somebody else can shed some light on this for me?
