Between the hours of 8:10 a.m. and 2:20 p.m., we counted a total of 1,659 monarchs flying past Del Rio Middle School. The majority, 1,210, were observed flying before 11 a.m. Interestingly the temperature was between 68-74 degrees and it was partly cloudy. This is due to the fact that it had rained off and on for the past three days; so the monarchs were ready to fly when it finally stopped-accounting for the large morning numbers.
